The controversial pastor of Calgary’s Street Church, Art Pawlowski joins us today. He recently won a victory in a court battle over the right to use loudspeakers to preach the gospel, but there are more battles ahead. The group’s charitable tax status was recently removed — allegedly because the church’s strong vocal opposition to issues like gay marriage, abortion and divorce was deemed to be “political activity”. Is Calgary’s Street Church out of line or is this a case of stifling freedom of religion and free speech? Regardless of the forthright style of Street Church — if they get muzzled, is it possible there could be a domino effect for other religious groups? Your thoughts on either side are welcome.
