CITY TO DASH THE HOPES OF CALGARY'S POOR
CITY'S PLOT FOR INJUNCTION WILL SEND CHRISTIANS TO JAIL AND LEAVE THE POOR TO STARVE
(Calgary) Street Church Ministries is again being dragged before the courts by the City of Calgary. The City of Calgary, with this action, once again, proves that they are heartless bigots. They intend to shut down the work and ministry of Street Church Ministries by invoking an injunction against it. This injunction will effectively shut down the public ministry work of up to twenty churches in Calgary, and will cause Christians to be arrested for exercising their faith and fulfilling their duty to serve the needs of the poor.
"I am astonished that the City of Calgary continues with their heartless attacks on our ministry, while they allow non-Christian organizations like the Drop-In Centre to operate, in the same way we operate, without harassment.
The City of Calgary is proving that they are far more interested in politics than protecting the poor from starvation and possibly death. Why do the City officials hate us so much, we bring hope to the poor, have taken many people off the streets and have been involved in reducing crime due to the presence of our ministry downtown. Feeding and giving hope to the poor is not only our right, it is also not optional, as it is a commandment of God.", said Artur Pawlowski, Spokesman for Street Church Evangelistic Ministries.
Street Church is warning Calgary's Christians about the wide sweeping consequences that will effect them all if the City wins this injunction. Street Church is also broadcasting a call to action for all Christians.
"The City of Calgary must be sent a message that these kinds of attacks on Charter protected fundamental freedoms under the guise of upholding City bylaws must not happen in a free and democratic society, and certainly not in our beloved City of Calgary. We are asking all God fearing and freedom loving Calgarians to join us at the new Calgary Courts Centre, 601 – 5th Street SW, at 1:15 PM on Monday, March 31. We will have a time of prayer and will sing the National Anthem. Everyone who comes can see copies of all of the over fifty tickets that have been issued to Street Church Ministries for serving the needs of the poor. If people have ever wondered what this case is really about they should come out and see for themselves on Monday". Concluded Artur.
Artur Pawlowski and Street Church Ministries are inviting all media representatives to come down to the courts and cover this precedent setting case. Street Church feels that this case will either undermine or uphold Charter protected rights and freedoms, and will send a message that will echo throughout our Nation.
