A year to remember – victories, challenges and the glory of God!
We want to take this opportunity to thank you for your support and help. We had a wonderful year. Many people heard the gospel and many received Jesus Christ as their saviour, some were healed. We had countless people coming to us with testimonies of changed lives, people that you, our supporters helped, people that are now working, reconciled with their families, received freedom from drugs and alcohol, lives that in their misery on the streets had no hope, until people like you came and said, Jesus is hope, He can turn your life around, he can deliver you, he can save you. To you, that are not only talkers, but doers of the word, I say may God greatly reward you for your time and willingness to work with the most, in human eyes, unlovable people on the planet. God says, great is your reward in heaven, when you give to the poor, you are lending to the creator of the heavens and the earth.
Together, we prepared and gave away over 150,000 meals and through different other programs distributed countless other items and all for one purpose, to let the people know that Jesus is alive and that He loves them. He is not only a God that looks at us and says get your act together, but He enters into our lives personally and helps us up out of our miry clay. God is good! I can almost hear your response, "all the time". God took us by the hand through different difficult situations, and we have prevailed and we will see greater and greater victories as God always reminds me that He will take us from one glory to another, with Him. If there is one single sentence that I would like to leave you with this year, something that resonates in my very soul, in my spirit, the battle belongs to the Lord, and so also the victory. So be victorious. If God is for us, who can be against us?
The Christmas Festival
We had an awesome time with our speakers back, it was a great blessing, to not have to yell or raise my voice to be heard, but simply communicating with people. What a joy to see Gospel Elvis performing and the people rejoicing, dancing, cheering and laughing. Many homeless thanked us for having the speakers back, because they said that the music literally changed the atmosphere around us. So many people came with tears in their eyes telling us how much they appreciate us being there for them. We have truly become a part of their lives and even though it was cold, everyone felt that this time together was a special time. There is something greater than a man can see with his natural eyes that comes when the body of Christ brings the Holy Spirit for a Godly festival before the Lord at our own City Hall and when the children of the Living God sow seeds of eternal life.
The steaks, gifts and all the other goodies that God provided for us to bring to the poor became a secondary purpose and experience to the feeling of being accepted, appreciated and loved as creatures of God, created in His image. I think that’s what ultimately makes the difference; when you stand in front of the people and you point at one of them and say, "Yes… YOU… Jesus loves YOU. He died for YOU and He rose again for YOU." Wow, priceless moments.
Here are a few pictures from the event
If you want to see how the street ministry was treated by officials during the festival, click here. Just briefly, we had three bylaw vehicles, and firefighters show up at our event at the request of a City bureaucrat.
The saga continues
The City just announced a Christmas gift for our ministry… they are appealing Judge Fradsham’s decision, saying that he does not properly understand the law and that he did not even understand the facts of the case. Can you imagine such a statement? Pride and arrogance has blinded the City officials’ common sense. Such a disregard for human life in a growing financial crisis, when so many are losing their jobs, when people are freezing to death, tax payers money is seemingly of no value to them. More court costs, more time wasted, and all to uphold laws that a Provincial Court judge has ruled unconstitutional and simply wrong. At the end of the day, it simply shows you the condition of their hearts. Just remember, pride comes before destruction and a haughty spirit before the fall.
In return we say, may God forgive them and may His mighty hand save them, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
Loss of charity status
CRA revoked our charity status for speaking about homosexuality, abortion, divorce, etc. The full press release relating to this issue can be seen at the Street Church website here. We have an intention of challenging this decision, but in the mean time, unfortunately, we won’t be able to provide you with tax deductable receipts. Your support is appreciated through this difficult time in our ministry and we trust that you will not be inhibited in your giving.
As you can see, we have our hands full with the different challenges and difficulties that we face, but through all of them, God will take us from glory to glory.
In Jewish bible translation the verse goes like this:
"No weapon made will prevail against you. In court you will refute every accusation."
