City drops 11 charges against Pawlowski

The city dropped municipal bylaw charges against controversial street preacher Art Pawlowski yesterday.

Pawlowski couldn’t give many details, but said he felt vindicated.

“It’s great. We’re very happy, but it’s taken five years of prosecution and persecution to get here. The city abused their powers and they lost,” he said.

Eleven of 12 charges were dropped, and now the minister, who holds regular sermons outside city hall, only faces one municipal bylaw charge for using loudspeakers on city property.

In the past, Pawlowski has held events at various locations in the downtown core, and has had numerous complaints lodged.

Pawlowski still faces charges and will be back in court July 19.
